We make all of our soaps ourselves,
here in the picturesque Wensleydale village of West Tanfield, because
we want to know exactly what goes into our products.
Beginning with high-quality olive oil, coconut oil and cocoa butter,
we use traditional techniques (well, okay, we cheat a little and use an
electric stick blender to speed things up) to convert these oils into
a lovely and mild, skin-softening soap with rich, creamy lather that contains
all the natural glycerin that's so good for your skin and yet is usually
lost in most commercially-made soaps. We then add pure essential oils
for a rich and luxurious scent and sometimes ground coffee or spices,
such as paprika or cinnamon, to add colour or act as a gentle exfoliant.
We never use any artificial scents or colours.
Our soaps are then left to air-cure for at least 4 weeks, ensuring that
each one is mild and gentle, before being hand cut, wrapped, labelled
and sold.

Cinnamon Swirl (the soap formerly known as Brass Monkey) is a masculine,
winter warmer scent. Spicy and woody, with sweet orange
and sandalwood oils, it will help to settle you for
winter evenings. Ground cinnamon marbled through
the bar adds colour and texture to this mulled-wine of a soap. |

Healing Hippy : great for dry skin |

Healing Hippy is scented with relaxing clary sage for
feelings of well-being, tea tree for healing and patchouli,
which is what you get
when you
hug a hippy really hard. This soap is good for dry, itchy and mature
skin or just to pick you up when things are getting "really heavy, man"
and you want to stick a peace sign up to the world. |

Limander : wakes you up in the
morning! |

Limander is scented with zingy lime oil to
refresh and revive you and lavender oil to calm you. We
also use spicy ground paprika in the recipe which gives
it a lovely subtle salmon colour. This
is one of our best-selling soaps and is a perfect tonic for those mornings
when you can’t
quite wake up. |

Oomilegs : for your aching muscles |

Oomilegs has been specially blended to help unwind and loosen you up when
you've been pushing yourself hard. Whether you've been hill walking, gardening
or salsa
dancing,
the essential oils of eucalyptus, lemongrass, lime & black
pepper combine to ease your aching muscles and leave you ready for
an evening's funning.

Oooaaah : summery and flowery |

Oooaaah is one for the outdoors type, the soap is scented
with lemongrass, lavender and palmarosa to
not only keep you smelling gorgeous, but also
do just
a little bit to help keep those pesky bugs at bay. It's named after what
we say when we get in a lovely hot bath after a hard day in the garden. |

For years, we enjoyed the way that our customers loved all the
scents we used for our soaps. But one day, we made a terrible
discovery: we didn't have a floral scent!
So, we set out to fix it by making the most flowery, heady, sweet
smelling cottage garden soap we could, and this is it: Rosie Lee
(yes, we did almost call it Shalang-ylangylang). Rose absolute,
ylang ylang and geranium, with
just a hint of Verbena to bring it together. It's
not been on sale long, but we're certain this is going to be a huge
hit.

Purrrre : unscented and uncoloured |

For a long time we'd been asked for an unscented soap, but we didn't
want to just leave out the essential oils. So instead we've made Purrre
our luxury bar.
All of our soaps are lovely and mild and leave your skin feeling
soft and silky, but for Purrre, we've added avocado oil,
jojoba oil, shea nut butter and
sweet almond oil. It's perfect for very sensitive skin or if you want a soap that won't affect the scent of your perfume.

Scrubadub : a hardworking kitchen
soap |

Scrubadub has been blended as a gardener's or cook's soap. We've
added ground coffee to the recipe to act as a gentle
but effective exfoliant and scrub (great for sloughing off those dull
dead skin cells on shoulders and thighs).
We also use the essential
oils of coriander seed and lemon,
which together act as excellent deodorisers. So whether you've been
chopping garlic or planting garlic, this soap will get you clean and
leave your hands soft. |
